One tool to rule them all !
Biggest support list ever
As you may have noticed, I released the long-awaited stable version 2.8 of LiLi last night.
I'm proud to say that it adds support for more than 20 Linux distributions but not only !
Yep, many of you asked for this feature even if I found it a bit confusing since LiLi means LinuxLive. I'm obviously talking about Windows ISO support.
So there it is ! From now on, your favourite Live USB creator can also create USB installer for :
- Windows 7
- Windows Vista
- Windows Server 2008
- Windows Server 2008 R2
But don't worry, LiLi is still focusing on Linux distributions. New disitributions supported are :
- EXCLUSIVE : Backtrack 5 GNOME/KDE (+)
- EXCLUSIVE : ESXi 4.1 U1 (more on that one later)
- SimplyMEPIS 11.0
- AntiX M11
- SuperOS 11.04 (+)
- Fuduntu 14.10 (+)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- GRML 2011.05
- IPFire 2.9 - Core 49
- Chakra 2011.04-r1 (CD)
- Parted Magic 6.2
- DoudouLinux 1.0 (+)
- MacPup 525 (+)
- SystemRescueCD 2.2.0
- Bodhi Linux 1.1.0
- VortexBox 1.9
- VectorLinux 6.0 SOHO
- Zenwalk 7.0 Live
- Zenix 2.0
- Debian 6 (Non-Live)
- Meego 1.2 (experimental support)
- For a total of more than 260 different ISOs
(+) means full support with persistence
New features :
- Improved success of booting by replacing Syslinux modules with matching versions
- Default mode should work with any Mepis, ArchLinux, Chakra, Gentoo/Sabayon variants and Puppy variants
- Polish translation
- Keep checked options in memory
- A lot of minor improvements and bugfixes
What else ?
Versioning is now less confusing and binaries will be updated with each update.
From now on, stable versions will have a 3 digit numbering such as 2.8.0 for the current release. Beta versions will keep their naming scheme.
I'm also still working on the list of supported Linux page and I'm continuously improving it. Have a look at it already, you have access to all the major information on each Linux such as : type of support, filename, file hash, download page, website ...
About VMware vSphere ESXi 4.1 U1 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux support
LiLi will automatically create the ks.cfg with almost every parameters inside. You only have to uncomment one to make it work (this is a security to avoid people erasing their disks). You can read more on that here.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is also supported but you will have to download it by your own means. It should work with any version but I only tested with 6.1.
That's it for today ! Please consider contributing, donating or simply clicking an the ads (only if it's interesting) to encourage me.
Have fun with you Live USBs !
